These eye-catching wooden watches are made using sustainably grown, natural sandalwood not only for the watch band links, but for the watch case as well. The sandalwood’s pure natural tones and distinct graining create a stunning look that gives each watch its own unique look and personality. Each Tense wooden watch comes in a nice presentation box (see photo above).

The sustainably grown sandalwood used in these watches comes from various regions of the world. Our watches feature the gold stainless steel, model super 2035 movement from Miyota (makers of Citizen), their highest quality movement for 3-hand watches. Our watches are designed and assembled by the Tense Watch Company in British Columbia. Established in 1971, Tense continues to create the world's most unique, natural wooden time pieces.
The men’s bands are standard "bracelet" style with wooden links and come with either a stainless steel standard clasp or a deluxe clasp on the premium models. The ladies watches come with three different style bands. There's a standard "bracelet" wooden link band with stainless steel clasp, an open, flex-link sandalwood band on our bangle watches (very, very comfortable), and also a double "elastic" tension band with wooden heart-shaped links on our ladies "Heart Bead" watches--also very comfortable.
Links on all "bracelet" style bands can be easily removed by using a slotted micro screwdriver (see closeup photo of links above). Tense wooden watches are lightweight, very comfortable on, durable, and easy to care for; they come with a 24-month warranty. Water resistance level: Tense Wooden Watches are rated 3 ATM (Splash Resistant).
Our watches are all made with natural wood materials. As a result no two watches in a particular style are exactly alike, as the grain, shade, and tone of the wood varies from watch to watch. We do our best in our lead photos to depict the "look" of each style group we carry. Every Tense wooden watch is a one-of-a-kind timepiece--and that's what makes it so special!

| | |  Vietnamese Carved Stone ArtHand carved in the north of Vietnam near Hanoi, each piece of Sacred Ways Vietnam Stone Art is individually crafted by a master stone carver and his apprentice. The master shapes the more delicate parts of the piece that require a higher skill level, while the apprentice assists him as he learns the master’s trade. In this way, they ensure that the techniques are passed down from one master to the next, without losing the artistic style of this 3,000-year-old culture.
Combining their ancient artistry with more western-style, the Vietnamese stone carvers seek to introduce fresh, new ideas, while not compromising their own unique characteristics as traditional artisans. The soapstone occurs naturally, and the carving is all done free hand, resulting in a look with a natural organic flow, wrapping around the pieces to create a three dimensional work of art that is unique from every angle.

| | |  Miniature "Storm Catcher" Fetish JarsSacred Ways Miniature Fetish Jars come to us from artist Barbara Sebastian of San Francisco. "Clay Times" magazine says Barbara's work "pays tribute to the place within all of us where we dream, create, and dance with the elements."
Barbara initially created these jars at the end of a long California drought to honor the natural elements associated with rain: water, lightening, and growth.
Each 4" jar is high-fired wheel thrown porcelain with a blue interior. Before the jars harden, she hand carves the decorative motif onto the surface. The lids are designed specifically for each jar using beads, shells, and other objects that work with the individual piece.
A detailed story card is included with each fetish jar, describing the symbolism of the piece plus inspiration for its creation.

The writing tips on our pens are hand made, as opposed to the molded tips used on most glass pens. With great skill and effort, artist Michael Ernst forms these tips using extra grooves and a special twist, as you can see in the closeup. Why? The tip is where the ink is held, and because the extra grooves increase the ink capacity, you can usually write a half page or more with one dipping!
Since Sacred Ways Glass Pens are made with borosilicate glass, they are repairable! Each pen carries a lifetime no-fault warranty against chipping or breakage. We don't need to know how or why...we just fix it for you for a small charge!

| | |  Luster Glaze VasesThe stunning finish on these vases is created by a "luster glaze" process, which was originated by the late Beatrice Wood in the early 1900's. Her "reduction-fired lusters" were produced over a 50+ year period and have been displayed in the Oakland Art Museum.
Contemporary artist, Jim Gremel, rediscovered the process and painstakingly recreated it through trial and error. There were no textbooks or formulae to guide him, as the few artists who ever made luster glazes secretly guarded their techniques. Bali using semi-precious stones set in sterling silver. They are made with carved Tagua--a material that looks very much like ivory but certainly is not! Tagua is an extremely hard nut material that lends itself well to intricate hand carving and can be used as an ivory substitute. It is sometimes called plant ivory, renewable ivory, or alternative ivory because of its rich subtle shading and soft glow. It even ages somewhat like ivory.
All of our lovely Tide Pool jewelry pieces are set in sterling silver, and the pendants come on a soft black silk cord. The Turquoise and Dichroic glass pendants come with a beautiful sterling silver rope chain.
Note: we do our best to show photos that accurately represent the actual pieces; however, the Tagua Nut does vary in coloration from almost pure white to a golden ivory. Our pieces tend to lean toward the lighter tones, but like ivory, the alternative ivory Tagua Nut will tend to darken with age.
