Our Native American Rattles are all exquisitely crafted, museum-quality replications created by Montana artist, John Yashinski

Original Native American shakers and rattles were often adorned with hawk or eagle feathers. Our rattles are made to be as much like the originals as possible, but the artist does NOT use any illegal or restricted feathers for ornamentation.

 | ***SOLD***North Plains 1800's Native American Buffalo Bone and Deer Hoof Shaker Rattle This is an unusual, authentic Native American rattle made with a genuine buffalo foot bone and actual deer hoof "tinklers." It's typical of Native American rattles used by the North Plains tribes for healing and sweat lodge ceremonies. The rattle measures about 6 1/2" in length and gives off a pleasant clicking rattle sound when lightly shaken. It's made with braintan deerhide straps and hangers with round brass beads and accented with an ochre clay paint patina.

The thong wrap and fringe are braintan deer hide. Common feathers are substituted for the originals. | | | Cheyenne 1880 Native American Hoop Shaker Rattle
Our circa 1880 Cheyenne Hoop Rattle is an authentic, accurate copy of an actual rattle from the Montana State Historical Society in Helena, Montana.
The hoop is handcrafted from bull elk rawhide, filled with small pebble shakers, and mounted on a willow wood grip stick. Genuine clay green and Chinese vermillion red paints are used to decorate the hoop. Our Native American Hoop Rattle uses Duck feathers as a substitute for the hawk feathers found on the original. The finish patinas are all "aged," and the leather straps and binding are brain tanned deerhide.
The rattle is about 9 1/2" in height, and the hoop itself is around 4 1/2" in diameter.
Note: Since this rattle was created as a museum quality replication of an original antique Native American hoop rattle, it is purposely made to look very old, somewhat distressed, and clearly used. The feathers are intended to look a bit frayed and discolored, as feathers on a 130 year old rattle would naturally appear.
