| | Iridescent Labradorite Pendants
Labradorite is a stunningly unique gemstone, admired and treasured for its incredible play of color when struck by light. Named for the Labrador Peninsula in Canada, where it was first discovered, Labradorite has since been found in numerous other countries.
Labradorite display an overall dark metallic look, which flashes into brilliant displays of blue, green, gold, red, orange, and sometimes violet when struck by the light. This optical reflective is called chatoyance, from the French œil de chat, meaning "cat's eye."
Note: Labradorite gemstones look different in each lighting situation, and the "flash" does now show all the time. This, in our opinion, is what makes these stones so special. We do our best in these photos to capture the prominent "flash" coloration produced by each individual gemstone.
Metaphysically, Labradorite is a wind element stone of magic, reputed to awaken the wearer's inner magical or intuitive abilities.
We simply think these Labradorite gemstones are incredibly unique and strikingly beautiful when they flash.
