Large Indian Vintage Sari Patchwork Wall Hangings
Using carefully selected pieces of ornate festival garments, these intricate Indian vintage sari patchwork wall hangings are beautifully created by a family in the Gujarat district of northern India. Kanta, the mother, oversees this family business and personally supervises the layout and design of each Wall Hanging. Family members gather the garments from local villages and do all the cutting and sewing themselves.
Sacred Ways Indian Vintage Sari wall tapestries are made from sections of “dress up” apparel, clothing that has been worn for special events, weddings, religious ceremonies and festivals. Many of these pieces come from family heirlooms, passed down from generation to generation until they are eventually replaced by newer garments. Still beautiful, portions of these articles are then “recycled” or perhaps we could say “reincarnated” as they find their way into these beautiful wall hangings, where their beauty can be enjoyed and appreciated again and again.
Your purchase of Sacred Ways patchwork wall hangings helps support Kanta and her family. Their family business is the only source of income they have. Your purchase also gives much needed financial support to other families in the region, who are fairly paid for the garments they provide.
Framed and backed by black fabric, each of our Wall Hangings is a striking, one-of-a-kind piece of art, with its own distinct visual personality, style, and story. Although Kanta speaks very little English we do know she offers a special prayer over every one of these works, making each Sacred Ways Wall Hanging truly “Something special…something sacred.”

Because these are hand made one-of-a-kind pieces, our vintage sari wall hangings vary somewhat in size, but generally run about 38" wide and 57" long overall, with the patchwork section measuring about 34" by 52". The price is based on the intricacy of the beadwork, the embellishment of the fabric sections, and the complexity of the pattern.
Note: Our wall hangings contain extremely ornate sections of Indian "festival" garments, most of which are very heavily and intricately beaded. Truth is, although we do our best, the beauty and complexity of these amazing wall hangings simply cannot be fully represented by a photo or two on the web. There is absolutely no comparison between our wall hangings and many less expensive pieces that can be found online or elsewhere.
