Cheyenne 1870 Old Bead Cross Necklace

This is a traditional Native American necklace with a European type cross in buffalo rawhide adapted to Native American style using ca 1880 brass tacks and authentic red vermillion trade paint. Strung on genuine buffalo sinew, these are actual, antique beads from 1840 to 1860 era. The light colored beads are Venetian "milk" glass ca 1840-1850, and red ones are rare Chinese glass "padre" beads ca 1850-1860. The beaded section is about 27" in length, and the buffalo rawhide cross is about 3" x 4".

If these beads appear to be old, marked, stained, and worn, it's because they ARE, having been around for 160 years or so. This necklace is a rare find.
