"Mosaic" Boulder Opal Pendant Collection
Originating in Australia, each Sacred Ways "Mosaic" Boulder Opal reveals its own special color array as tones of gold, silver, pearl, turquoise, and other hues flow gently among the often predominant shades of blue. These are "natural" stones because they include some of the host rock, which is usually ironstone. These stones are referred to as "Seam" Boulder Opals, since they are formed when the precious opal material intrudes into cracks and seams of the host rock.
Known either as a Boulder Opal or Australian Opal, this incredible stone is said to enhance mental clarity and emotional security. It might easily be called "The Artist's Stone" because it aids in creative visualization. Beautifully set in complimentary sterling silver or gold fill, each Sacred Ways "Mosaic" Boulder Opal is as unique as the individual who wears it.
Our Boulder Opal pendants are individually pictured and priced below, and the measurements and weight of each pendant are provided along with a brief description. Most of our pendants are set in sterling silver, but the artist has set a few pieces with 14-carat gold fill wire because it compliments their unique coloration. The gold wire is superior to gold plating because the gold is fused into a base metal and will not rub off.
A note regarding our photos. "Mosaic" Boulder Opals in particular are challenging to photograph "accurately" because there is no single look that typifies the stone. In every lighting situation, the opals appear different...depending on the source of the light, the angle, and the intensity. On the other hand, this is why the Boulder Opal is such an intriguing gemstone and why it results in such a unique piece of jewelry.

|  "Mosaic" Boulder Opal Pendant 29This striking pendant is one of our "waterfall" selections. We use this name because the pearly opalescent vein flowing through the stone looks like a waterfall tumbling down a cliff face. Note the brilliant green and red "flecks" that sparkle in the light. This unique "Mosaic" Boulder Opal Pendant is good sized, weighing 16.8 grams and measuring about 1 7/8" in height (including the bale) and just over 1" at its widest point.

A beautiful opalescent "stream" flows between gold-flecked "rock" outcroppings. The stunning turquoise/green accent at the lower left seems to glow with its own internal light.
This "Mosaic" Boulder Opal Pendant is large, measuring 1" across and 2" from top to bottom. It weighs 16 grams.

This is one of our larger Boulder Opal Pendants, long and elegant in shape, and weighing 18.8 grams, measuring 2 5/8" long (including the bail), and about 1" across at the widest point.

When held up to the light, this opal exhibits a beautiful soft translucence highlighted by sparkling flecks of fiery opalescence. It's even reversible, as the "back" side combines an intriguing mineral pattern with translucent opal and sparkling highlights.

There are layers of dark material with gold flecks, coppery gold accents, and pearly luminescence. Held in different light, one can almost get lost in the "scene." You decide! This stone is cut in an unusual rectangular shape that really highlights the scene. Overall height: 1 5/8", weight: 13.6 grams. The Boulder Opal gemstone itself is 1" x 3/4".
| | |  "Mosaic" Boulder Opal Pendant 102This incredible boulder opal stone shows a lot of depth with violet and blue overtones floating above a burnished golden background. When angled just right toward the light, brilliant flashes of green appear along the borders.
This beautiful pendant is fairly large, measuring just over 2" from the tip of the bail to the toe of the setting. It's just more than 1" across at the widest point and weighs 16.7 grams.

OK...maybe that's a little over-dramatic, but there is NOTHING over-dramatic about the dynamic shapes, textures, and colors found in this incredible gemstone, fittingly set in gold fill wire.
Overall the pendant is 2" tall and weighs 16.5 grams. The beautiful stone is 1 3/4" x 7/8".
