Blooming Lotus Silk Table and Hanging Lamps
This unique Asian-inspired lamp combines a modern and Deco feel with its obvious ethnic look. Handmade with fine taffeta silk by skilled Vietnamese craftspeople, this item is made with the highest fair trade principles in mind.
The silk taffeta is finished with a moiré pattern, which gives the fabric a ripple effect, especially when the light is on, adding interest to the fabric and texture to the lighting.
Each of these lamps is handmade by fair trade cottage industry family groups in villages in Southeast Asia. The artisans themselves determine the price of the item and the entire family works on the project. The income from these endeavors helps families build homes for themselves and also workshops to employ more villagers.
Spiritual tradition holds the blooming lotus as a symbol of the individual's upward journey towards enlightenment, and our Lotus Lamps will add a feeling of beauty and upliftment to any sacred space.
Note: a Blooming Lotus Silk Lamp makes an excellent 12th Anniversary gift, as the twelfth anniversary traditional gift is silk or linen.
