Blackfeet 1890's Target Hoop & Arrow Game
This is a Native American child's game set based on pieces from Montana's Bob Scriver collection, It features a wonderfully beaded hoop target and small "game" arrow that would have been used with a small bow. The non-sharpened arrow is made with a willow wood shaft finished with ochre clay paint and sinew wrapped feathers. The target hoop contains some very special beads: rare 1860 blue padres, 1870 white Chinese glass, 1870 rose Venetian whitehearts, 1900 Czech orange glass, and 1910 French brass. The target hoop is a ca 1910 iron harness bridle ring covered in ochre clay painted braintan deerhide.
The arrow is 13" in length, and the hoop measures 2 1/2" across. Note: the hoop alone is a very fine decorative piece with incredible history in beads.
